Pastor’s Note November 20, 2017

Psalm 121

Like the bricks that make a building, each one has its responsibility for the integrity and function of the entire building. So it is with the local church body. As a true believer we are all a part of “the church.” Just because one goes to another building to worship does not nullify his or her membership in the Body of Jesus Christ. As the local body of Christ we all have given talents, responsibilities and spiritual gifts to be used. Like a canvas of art, each color is necessary. If part of the painting is missing, it is noticed.brick

We can backup to Psalm 120:1 and read, “Save me Lord from lying lips.” Those can be lips of bad or false counsel and our own lips.” We MUST exercise our spiritual gifts, talents and abilities to sustain the spiritual fabric of both a building and a canvas painting. Deceitfulness has no place in the church. Am I an occasional Christian or one that is little more than one who claims the title? Do we sometimes see God as in the way of our careers, lives, ambitions?  Why would we conclude that?

There are over 4,000 churches closing each year in the United States. What is going wrong? Part is the one brick that refuses to be part of the total building; the one color that refuses to complete the canvas. Another reason is too many so-called Christians are living a life of spiritual dormancy. Gods’ instructions to us as a part of the building of the local church body; i.e. the body of Christ, is not a way of life, It is THE WAY OF LIFE.

Might God be happy and delighted or hesitant of what we plan to do for and with him in 2018?

All We Need Is Jesus – Pastor’s Notes

There have so much going on at our church right now!  Fortunately — as Pastor Mike’s sermon title tells us — All We Need Is Jesus.  Thank you God!

One big step: our congregation voted unanimously to withdraw from the Covenant and go independent….non-affiliated…..nondenominational. We have God’s Holy Word as our doctrine and guide to follow and we don’t feel we need all the man-made rules and regulations of the various denominations.   follow me

Being a Christian is a way of life.  Jesus said “if anyone serves me, he must follow me, and where I am, there will my servant be also”   John 12:26. The Lord must be our first love, our best friend and our guide in all we do. With the Lord leading our thoughts and our steps what does it matter what we are called? There is only one church (Ephesians 4:3-6). I want to be called a Christian above all. I am a “member” of THE CHURCH; the only Church, the body of Christ.  1 Corinthians 12:27.

We are getting ready for “Five Day Club”, formerly called Daily Vacation Bible School. I attended one for many years when a youngster. We are hoping to have kids from the community to teach and nurture. We are giving away a girl’s and boy’s bike to two lucky kids. If we can have the chance to plant seeds of God in even one young heart, it will be worth it all.

Also we are starting our annual Christmas Shoe boxes early.  Each donor pays $9 per box to cover the shipping. Then fill it with appropriate toys, school supplies, books, etc.  I like to fill girls Christmas Shoe boxes around the age of first and second grade boxes.

Oh, by -the -way, our new name is

CCC and Bible school

See you next week.
